Meet Dixon

Adventurer · Author · Speaker

I'm Brian Dixon — but most folks call me Dixon — a Colorado-based Adventurer, Author, and Speaker, and a recovering midlife man-zombie.For twenty years, I lived misaligned — playing the superhero for everyone but myself. In 2014, a life-threatening mountain bike crash ended years of quiet drift. Alignment took longer — until I made a decision most men my age would never consider. At fifty, I chased down a dream from my youth. I found a mentor, committed to years of training, and flew a paraglider solo off Colorado's Lookout Mountain. It might sound like a midlife cliché. It wasn't — it was clarifying. That flight reset my True North.

From there, everything else opened up. I began asking better questions — about my direction, my ambitions, and my True North. If I were going to realign my life, I had to start with my body. In my youth, I was a three-time Maryland state champion in track and a Division I athlete at the University of Colorado Boulder. After Lookout Mountain, I wasn't chasing old wins — I was rebuilding from the body up.At fifty-four, I set a big, hairy goal to finish the Leadville 100 mountain bike race under nine hours and earn the coveted "big buckle" — not to relive the past, but to answer the question every man asks himself: do I still have the fire? That shift reshaped how I showed up in relationships — and made real love possible. That's when Mina entered my gravitational pull — the love of my life. We were married last September. It wasn't luck. It was the natural outcome of following my True North.

Today, I help men break free from misalignment — so they can Wake Up. Realign. Move Forward. I believe every man needs a guided midlife reckoning because, left unexamined, it either erupts destructively or, worse, never arrives at all, leaving men functional, comfortable, and still asleep.Through my book Before It's Too Late: The Midlife Wake-Up Call Every Man Needs (Fall 2026), along with speaking and coaching, I challenge the idea that fifty, sixty, or seventy is "too old." For many men, it's the beginning of their Second Prime — if they choose it intentionally. My authority doesn't come from credentials. It comes from lived experience — decades of drift, learning how misalignment works, and building a realignment framework that holds up under real life. I'm not a guru. I'm a peer — someone who found the exit and came back to walk others through it.Throughout every season of misalignment, the Colorado outdoors was my constant. Mountain biking, paragliding, and time in wild places weren't escapes — they were laboratories for realignment. Outside is where men reconnect with their bodies, regain perspective, and remember what matters.Modern men assume time will always be there. It won't. But if you wake up, realign, and move forward, there is still time to write a powerful second chapter.

The Moment Everything Changed

This isn't a highlight reel. This is the actual moment I stopped talking about change and
started living it—running off Lookout Mountain, trusting the wind, and discovering that
the realignment I'd been searching for was waiting on the other side of fear.
